The David M. Crowley Foundation sponsored an exhibition at the Ursuline Academy of Dallas to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. The event featured the family members of hero FDNY Firefighters Kevin O’Rourke and Michael Lynch as part of a panel discussion for two student assemblies. The family members shared how they relied on their faith in Jesus Christ during the time their loved ones were missing in the rubble and to find peace knowing that these heroes died doing what they loved; helping people.
The exhibit also featured a special 9/11 “Texas Survivor Tree”, cast with steel from the World Trade Center and Freedom Tower sculpted by Nicola McClean for a permanent display at the Ursuline Academy. This special survivor tree is covered in butterflies to symbolize hope & resurrection. The tree reminds us of the capacity of the human spirit to endure. “The Texas Survivor Tree” was generously commissioned by the David M. Crowley Foundation.
